Fostering Excellence : CTPL NextGen Academy Empowers educators with AI & Data Science teaching Techniques in 2 day Faculty development program ( FDP)

"VGU NextGen" organized a two-day faculty development program on teaching methodologies for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science for the faculty of Computer Science Engineering and Applications on the 25th and 26th of February 2023. The aim of the faculty development plan on "Teaching Methodologies for Artificial Intelligence and Data Science" was to equip faculty members with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively teach AI and Data Science courses to students. The plan focused on providing faculty members with an understanding of the latest teaching methodologies and tools used in the field of AI and Data Science. The specific aim was to enhance faculty members' knowledge and understanding of AI and Data Science concepts and principles. Faculty members were provided with training on Graph Database and the latest AI and Data Science concepts and principles, including machine learning, data mining, and data analysis. Through the faculty development plan, faculty members were encouraged to develop innovative teaching strategies and incorporate real-world applications of AI and Data Science concepts in their courses.

Day 1

Date:- 25th Feb. 2023, Saturday

Venue:- Seminar Hall, Technical Block, Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur

The event began promptly at 10:00 AM with a welcome speech by Ms. Jyoti, who welcomed Dr. Vishwa Pratap Singh, an expert in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. Dr. Singh holds a Ph.D. from Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi and an M.Tech from the Indian Institute of Information Technology in Gwalior. He has previously worked as a Team Lead in Digital Java team at RLE International. Dr. Singh commenced his speech by discussing data and database management systems and why they are necessary. He explained the various types of data and database management systems, including relational databases (RDBMS), NoSQL databases, and graph databases. He emphasized the importance of selecting an appropriate database management system for effective data science operations and provided real-life examples. Feature Engineering: Data Pre-processing and Feature Selection Model Selection and Performance Evaluation also discussed. He also gave a demonstration of Neo4j, including its installation, various libraries, and how to interface it with different languages and applications. During the second session, Dr. Singh elaborated on data science as a career path, highlighting the recent technologies that are shaping the field and the real-life industry projects that are driving innovation. He also shared his insights on the various resources available to educators to help them effectively teach data science to their students. Dr. Singh's presentation provided the audience with a comprehensive understanding of the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead in the field of data science.

Day 2

Date:- 26th Feb. 2023, Saturday

Venue:- Seminar Hall, Technical Block, Vivekananda Global University, Jaipur

On the second day of the session, the resource person began by introducing the Graph Query Language and conducting a hands-on demo for the participants. Following this, the topic of artificial intelligence was introduced, along with various definitions and terminologies such as agents, agent environments, and searching algorithms. The speaker also covered the topic of ethics in AI and provided real-life applications and industry projects to showcase its practical usage. The participants were also given information on various resources to learn and teach AI. Moving on, the second session of the day began with machine learning Basics of Probability and Statistics for Machine Learning, Types of Machine Learning Algorithms: Supervised, Unsupervised, and Reinforcement Learning and various definitions and resources were discussed. The discussion then shifted towards Natural Language Processing (NLP) and various Python libraries such as NLTK, Spacy, and Matplotlib that can be used for NLP tasks. The speaker also discussed computer vision and introduced various libraries for it, such as OpenCV. The importance of using Github for version control was also emphasized. The session concluded with a demo on using draw.io. Future Directions in Machine Learning Best Practices in Teaching Machine Learning, Assessment and Evaluation of Student Learning in Machine Learning.
