On 18th, 19th and 20th March 2024 at 10:00 am to 1:00pm, an academic intervention and training workshop was held for BU Nextgen Students, led by Ms. Eesha Gupta. This workshop, centred on Pandas & NumPy, vital Python libraries for data manipulation and analysis, aimed to provide students with practical expertise in handling and analysing data, crucial for their academic and professional advancement.
The workshop spanned three days, each session lasting for three hours. Ms. Eesha Gupta, an experienced practitioner in data science, led the sessions, combining theoretical insights with practical exercises to ensure comprehensive learning.
The first day of the workshop focused on NumPy, a fundamental library for numerical computing in Python. Ms. Gupta covered the following topics:
Throughout the session, participants practised creating arrays, performing arithmetic operations, and applying mathematical functions using NumPy.
The second day focused on introducing Pandas, a powerful library for data manipulation and analysis. Ms. Gupta covered the following topics:
Participants engaged in hands-on exercises, where they practised loading datasets, performing basic operations, and exploring data using Pandas.
The final day of the workshop shifted the focus to Building upon the foundation laid on the second session, advanced techniques and functionalities of Pandas:
Students had the opportunity to apply these advanced techniques to real-world datasets, reinforcing their understanding through practical implementation.
The academic intervention and training workshop conducted by Ms. Eesha Gupta proved to be highly beneficial for the students of BU NextGen 1st Year. By focusing on Pandas & NumPy, essential libraries in Python for data manipulation and analysis, the workshop empowered participants with valuable skills essential for academic success and future career endeavours. BU NextGen looks forward to organising similar workshops to further enrich students' learning experiences.
