A NextGen Sports Fest
The inaugural edition of "स्पर्धा - 2024”: Uniting Excellence, marked a milestone in athletic excellence and collegiate camaraderie, bringing together vibrant talents from VGU NextGen in Jaipur and BU NextGen in Shimla. Held on April 5th and 6th, 2024, at VGU campus in Jaipur, the event promised an exhilarating blend of athleticism, teamwork, and spirited competition. This sports fest served as a platform for diverse talents to showcase skills, engage in healthy competition, and foster lasting bonds, embodying a commitment to unity among students beyond geographical boundaries.
In the inaugural address, CEO. VGU Mr. Omkar Bagaria emphasised the significance of the NextGen sports fest in fostering physical and mental well-being alongside academic pursuits. Professor Santosh Kumar highlighted VGU's commitment to nurturing young talents in sports, while Professor Bhagwanulu encouraged participants to prioritise team spirit and harmony over individual victories.
Day 1 of "स्पर्धा- 2024" showcased a vibrant array of sporting talent with competitions in badminton, volleyball, and basketball. Male and female athletes displayed their skills in various matches, captivating the audience with their agility and teamwork. The day concluded with mixed doubles badminton matches, highlighting coordination and teamwork. With a collective participation of 100 athletes from NextGen VGU and NextGen BU.
Notably, the NextGen VGU Team showcased exceptional performance, securing 90 points in contrast to BU's 10 points. Out of the 10 matches held, NextGen VGU emerged triumphant in 9, while BU clinched victory in 1. This outstanding achievement underscores the depth of talent and dedication among the participants. Guided by the efficient coordination of Rakesh Sharma, the event promises an enthralling continuation on the following day, brimming with anticipation and excitement.
The first day of the workshop focused on NumPy, a fundamental library for numerical computing in Python. Ms. Gupta covered the following topics:
Throughout the session, participants practised creating arrays, performing arithmetic operations, and applying mathematical functions using NumPy.
Day 2 of "स्पर्धा- 2024" featured a diverse array of sports events, ranging from badminton mixed doubles to mini soccer, volleyball, and basketball. Participants demonstrated remarkable skill and teamwork throughout the day's matches.
In a closely contested day of competition, both teams emerged victorious in two matches each. This balanced outcome highlighted the competitive spirit and talent displayed by both VGU and BU, setting the stage for an exciting continuation of the event.
In a stunning display of skill and determination, the VGU NextGen Team secured victory with an impressive total of 110 points in 11 matches, showcasing their dominance on the field. Meanwhile, the BU NextGen Team put up a valiant effort, accumulating a commendable total of 30 points, but ultimately falling short against the formidable performance of their opponents.
In the presence of Dr. Surendrs Yadav, Dean. The closing ceremony marked the end of the vibrant NextGen sports fest, “स्पर्धा- 2024”. It was truly a spectacular showcase of athletic prowess, teamwork, and sportsmanship. The atmosphere was filled with excitement and camaraderie as students from VGU and BU came together to participate in and witness the thrilling matches.
Throughout the fest, participants displayed unwavering dedication, pushing themselves to excel in their respective sports. Meanwhile, the enthusiastic support from the audience added to the electric atmosphere, creating an unforgettable experience for everyone involved.
